Crowns round1 (9)

What happens when a king decides to take his crown off and walk the other way? Much suffering has been brought to families when men have decided to walk away. A kingdom without a king is bound to suffer in some shape or form. Kings walk away from their responsibilities for a number of reasons. Some may not understand their importance, others may not want the responsibility, there are many reasons kings walk away. Before you take off your crown, think about the destruction that it could cause!

How Can We Turn It Around?

0

During an afternoon nap I was grabbed out of my sleep by the sound of gunshots, at least seven. All of this after a very busy weekend meeting with individuals in regards to how to serve the community of West Humboldt Park and a performance at A Teen Summit. The gunshots reminded me that I cannot grow weary in this crusade of change. I was given an infusion of energy when I looked in my facebook feed and saw that my very good friends Madam Pilar of Kreative Souls, Mahogany Townsend, and Chris Audain contributed to the U Can Turn It Around Initiative with an inspiring video. Regardless of our situations, no matter how dark the night may be there is still hope.

Team U Turn performed their anthem at this years  CYDC Teen Summit hosted by the Monroe Street Church of Christ youth group. It was an action packed event where words of inspiration were delivered to Chicago’s teens and such topics as human sex trafficking were discussed, picking the right circle of friends, pursuing success and using your time wisely. Various aldermen visited the event to give the youth information on up and coming summer jobs.  If you are interested in having Team U Turn perform at an event contact us at [email protected]

Thoughts on turning the violence around.

Jarrett a young man who grew up in Chicago, and did not take the path of least resistance shares his thoughts on how we can turn the violence around. He is one of the  young men who has done what he has needed to do completing  high school and college and continuing to develop himself as a young man. Our men that are doing what they should rarely receive any attention especially in the media because they want the masses to believe that all of our young men are engaged in illegal behavior and are dangerous.

Today the U Can Turn It Around Initiative visited a monthly breakfast hosted in Maywood IL by Maywood Youth Mentoring. This is a monthly event which provides breakfast to youth as well as motivational speakers from all walks of life. This months speaker was Mr . Louis Dooley from Set Free Ministries. He shared an uplifting story of his life which entailed him growing up as a youth that took a wrong turn which led him to serving a life sentence in prison and how that saved his life. Mr. Dooley was transformed while serving his sentence and served only 15 1/2 years as opposed to life. He was encouraging, inspiring and a joy to meet. Maywood youth mentoring is doing a great work. Kudos to Barbara Cole and her team for Turning It Around in Maywood with their positive works.  If you are interested in learning about either of their endeavors check out the links below and remember U CAN TURN IT AROUND!
